It's official: The Neptunes are officially back.
In recent years, Pharrell and Chad Hugo have ventured to work on their own independent projects and have only met occasionally for special tasks. But in a new interview, Chad reveals that the duo are now working together full time again on new songs, where they are producing for different artists, in addition to a video game soundtrack.
Two artists who named Chad immediately stood out: the rapper Jay-Z and innovator 2019, Lil X In . “I'm focusing on The Neptunes things, getting back to The Neptunes routine. We are doing some things. There is a video game soundtrack currently in progress that I can't talk about, I shouldn't, but it's on now, ”Chad said when asked by Clash about Neptunes' upcoming work.
“We just worked with Miley Cyrus, Jay-Z, Blink 182, Lil Uzi Vert, Brandy, Ray-J, Snoh Joy, G-Eazy,” he continued. Chad also talked about working in the past with Justin Timberlake, the special sound of The Neptunes, how they started and more.
It is clear that the pair plans to resume the soundscape once again in this decade, but what will be their success? In chat, Pharrell also praised his longtime partner. “He is himself. He is a Savant. Being around him just makes everyone else better. He radiates genius. He's been like this since I met him in the band at 12. ”
In May 2017, Chad abruptly made the announcement on Twitter that he was leaving the music business, only to delete it later. “I resigned from the music business. Thanks again, guys, for your support over all these years. Good luck / God bless! ”The tweet was deleted and a rep denied his retirement.
