Bride splits opinion after asking if low-cut wedding dress is too revealing – with some labelling it ‘ - The Sun

A BRIDE is debating over whether her wedding dress is too revealing as it has a low neckline – and people have agreed branding the gown "inappropriate".

Choosing a dress to get married in is one of the hardest decisions to make, and one of the most expensive parts of a wedding.

After possibly finding her dream dress, one bride-to-be was unsure as to whether it was too tacky as it had a "revealing" neckline.

Sharing an image of herself in the dress to WeddingBee, she wrote: "I'm deciding between some bridal gowns for my beach wedding and I'm leaning towards this one.

"This question is about the cleavage aspect of the dress.

"I feel the neckline might be too revealing.

"Any ideas for alterations that won't look tacky?"

Set to walk down the aisle in January 2022, she had chosen a Stella York dress, by Essence of Australia.

Described as a "modern meets sexy" gown, it's made from: "Matte lace and silky crepe create a sheath silhouette with plunging V-neckline and naked illusion back.

"The sheer V-shaped bodice is created by matte lace with an organic finish that adds a botanical look to the lace.

"Floating straps meet in the back as the illusion lace forms a tattoo effect on the back.

"The lace continues down the hips, shaping the bride's body into sexy curves."

But the "simple yet sexy" wedding dress has been branded a little too sexy by some people.

Commenting on the post, fellow brides have called the frock "inappropriate", comparing it to "lingerie".

Some people thought the dress looked like lingerie

One woman said: "I will be honest and say I really wish the super plunging neckline trend would go away.

"I'm not a prude, and have no issue with it for a night at a gala or a club, but am traditional enough to feel it's inappropriate at a family affair or a wedding ceremony.

"I feel the same way about sheer panels. That said, you have the figure for it."

Someone else added: "The plunging neckline combined with the sheer lace bodice combined with the wide open back down to her butt adds up to lingerie to me, not a wedding dress.

"One of those elements might be ok, maybe, but all three combined make it too revealing."

A third wrote: "In My Humble Opinion, the low cut does not make it too revealing.

The dress has divided opinion online

"The recent trend of see-through corsets make the top of the dress too revealing for my taste. But, of course, to each her own."

Another person pointed out: "The fact that you mentioned it means that you are thinking its too much. Is there any way to modify it?

"You don't want to think about your cleavage your entire wedding. You look killer!"

Somebody else thought: "It's not obscenely revealing by any means, it's just a little low.

"I think deep V neck is a trend at the moment. If you're comfy wearing it, you look nice.

"My only concern is that the top and bottom has a clear distinction, maybe it could have been blended better with a lining on the top part."

But not everyone thought flashed too much flesh, with this person saying: "Wow that dress looks like it was made for you. I don't think it's too revealing personally.

"Especially for a beach wedding."

Earlier this week, a bridezilla horrified guests by asking for a 'wedding leotard' to wear for the first dance.

While this bride was blasted for demanding her NINE bridesmaids spend £470 on their dresses and 'start saving now' for her lavish overseas hen do.

Meanwhile this glittery, plunging dress a mother-of-the-bride planned to wear to a wedding was slammed as 'too revealing'.

Problem Solved: A BHLDN wedding dress return problem - AberdeenNews.com

Posted: 27 Jul 2019 12:57 PM PDT

When Holly Monasterial returns her wedding dresses, BHLDN refunds only two out of the three gowns. How can she persuade them to refund the third?

Question: I purchased three wedding gowns online last year from BHLDN. I received them a week later and returned them within the 30-day return period using their included prepaid UPS shipping labels. The gowns arrived in two boxes, and I returned the gowns in those boxes, in the same condition.

I monitored the return shipments. Both boxes were delivered to their warehouse a few weeks later. I had not received my money back and reached out a month later via email to ask BHLDN about my refund. Soon after, I received refunds for two of the three gowns.

BHLDN's policy states it may take a couple of billing cycles for refunds to reflect, so I wrongly assumed the refund for the third gown would come shortly. I waited patiently, but it never showed up.

Four months later, I reached out again, for what felt like the millionth time, to ask about the refund for the gown. BHLDN is now conveniently saying they have no record of me ever returning the gown. They are claiming no liability for returns lost in transit to BHLDN's warehouse. They are asking if I contacted UPS to see if it was erroneously marked as delivered.

Here's the thing: The shipment they're referring to contained two of the dresses, and the other dress was correctly processed as a return, and I received the refund months ago. Thus, the shipment was already in their possession, and I have the UPS tracking information as proof. Can you help me get my $950 back? — Holly Monasterial, Oakland, Calif.

Answer: BHLDN should have refunded all three wedding dresses immediately. It appears you met BHLDN's return policy by returning your dresses within 30 days and in good condition.

A closer look at the rules suggests that while you met your end of the bargain, BHLDN did not. The company promises that "most" returns will process in approximately two to three weeks, depending on your method of return. "Additional processing delays may occur," it adds. But four months? Come on.

The real question is: How do you prove BHLDN received all three dresses? Or any returned product, for that matter? I can think of only one thing — take a picture of all three dresses in the box with the return label. It's not a guarantee, but I imagine that if you had photographic evidence of the return, you might not have experienced such delays.

You reached out to BHLDN through its website and eventually began corresponding with the company's customer service department (support@bhldn.com). But a review of your paper trail shows that the company was intent on placing the blame on UPS for losing the gown and making you pay $950 for something you didn't have.

You could have appealed this to a manager. URBN, which owns Anthropologie, which owns BHLDN, posts the email addresses of all its executives on its site. So nice of them! I also publish the names of key customer service contacts on my consumer advocacy site. A brief, polite email with your paper trail might have done the trick.

You reached out to Hillary Super, the president of Anthropologie Group's apparel and accessories division. I also contacted BHLDN on your behalf. Although it took almost an entire year, you eventually received your $950 back. Maybe you should have charged them interest.

AS anyone who has ever been a bridesmaid will already know, the cost of being in your pal's wedding party can quickly rack up.

But while we're ordinarily all too happy to shower our bride-to-be with gifts ahead of their big day, one Bridezilla has been shamed online after she asked her NINE bridesmaids to pay £470 on their dresses - and demand that they all "start saving now" for her overseas hen do.

Kicking off her wedding party's group chat, the Bridezilla revealed she hadn't settled on a location for her hen do next year - but definitely wants to it be somewhere "you require a passport!"

The Australian woman wrote: "Some of the ladies have suggested a few places like Jamaica, Spain, Costa Rica so start thinking of a place so we can make a decision."

On top of this expense, the bride revealed that she wants all of her wedding party to fork out for "custom bathing suits as well for the trip" as well as £14 "custom robes" to wear on the morning of her wedding.

And just when you thought it couldn't get any more bonkers, the bride then revealed her plans for their designer bridesmaid dresses.

Although she is "still waiting on prices from the make up artist, hair stylist and dress designer", the bride added: "As for the bridesmaid dresses, it looks like the price will run everyone between [£390 -£470]."

Revealing her plans for her custom-made bridesmaid dresses, the Bridezilla continued: "The designer will need a deposit so put [£55] aside like now so when I come to you in June you'll be ready."

Rounding off her list of demands, the woman wrote: "I want to say thank you for being a part of this journey with me. I am scared but I am happy I am marrying my best friend. If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to text me directly.

"Only want this group chat for information purposes. Just start SAVING!!!"

Another added: "That's a lot to ask of anybody and the dress cost is outrageous."

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Umm no I'd drop out. £740 for a dress/any wedding that isn't my own? BYE FELICIA." Our thoughts exactly.
