Becca Highlighter Comparison and Reviews - "Shimmering Skin Perfector" Pressed vs. Poured vs. Liquid

I have to say that I love highlighters, and Becca is well known for making some of the best highlighters out there (Champagne Pop anyone?!) But if you look at their highlighters, or shimmering skin perfectors as they are called, you will notice that there is 3 different types of them: pressed, poured and liquid.

I thought I would compare the 3 types to help decipher the difference between the different types: Pressed vs. Poured vs. Liquid

The three Becca Highlighters I will be comparing are:
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Protector Pressed - Champagne Pop
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Protector Poured - Opal
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid) - Opal

Sorry Champagne Pop and Poured Opal switched spots in this picture!

Here is a look at the Pressed highlighter:

Becca Highlighter Comparison and Reviews - "Shimmering Skin Perfector" Pressed vs. Poured vs. Liquid

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed - Champagne Pop ~ full size $46.00. A creamy powder highlighter that absorbs and reflects light for the ultimate natural glow.

This "pressed" highlighter is a powder highlighter and is described as non-traditional powder highlight - it is mixed with liquid binders to give it a creamy texture. The formula is enriched with ultra-fine luminescent pearls, for a multi-toned effect that absorbs, reflects, and refracts light for a unique glow.

Champagne Pop itself is described as a "soft white gold with pinky peach undertones" - this colour was designed with Jaclyn Hill.

I personally love this formula - while it is powdery, it goes on so soft and amazing. The color is unique and works well on many skin tones and it delivers a serious highlight that adds a beautiful glow to the skin!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured - Opal ~ full sized $46 (pictured here is a sample size). A pigment-rich, creamy highlighter that provides high color payoff with soft, sophisticated shimmer.

The main difference with the "poured" highlighter is that it is a cream highlighter. This formula uses pigment pearls that adjust to your skin's natural undertones leading to a creamy finish that highlights and brings light to your best features with a sophisticated shimmer.

Opal is described as "golden opal pearl" - this is the most popular Becca shade!

I do not generally reach for cream highlighters as much as I do powder highlighters on a daily basis. When I "strobe" (use a layered highlight technique), I always start with my base as a cream highlighter. While this isn't my go-to everyday highlighter, this is a beautiful highlight. It is more shimmery than the "pressed" highlighter and brings a bigger wow-factor.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid) - Opal ~ travel size $23/ full size $50. A liquid highlighter that perfects skin with light-reflecting pearls for a soft, natural glow.

The difference with this shimmering skin perfector and the poured and pressed varieties, that this is a pure liquid highlighter. This formula melts you in the skin for a polished look and has a prismatic effect that adjusts in any light so you always glow!

Again, Opal is described as "golden opal pearl" - this is a beautiful colour that could work on a variety of skin tones.

My favorite part of this product is that this is very versatile! Instead of using this as a straight highlighter, I often mix a few drops of the liquid shimmering skin perfector in to my foundation for a natural looking "glow" - it has a beautiful effect! As a liquid highlighter, I find it blends in the nicest of the 3 formulas, for a more natural looking highlight!

Here is a look at the Pressed, Poured, and Liquid Shimmering Skin Perfectors:

This picture shows the difference of the 3 products on the skin:
  • Pressed is more powdery, and blends in nicely while offering a nice glow
  • Poured smooths in to the skin and has a more shimmery effect
  • Liquid blends in more to the skin and offers a more subtle highlight effect
Personally, I love all 3 products for different reasons!
  • Pressed is my go-to highlighter, this offers a beautiful every day highlight that sits on the skin nicely and offers a good "pop" of color.
  • Poured has a more shimmery effect - this adds nicely to a night-out or date-night look, when you want a more amped extra glimmery up highlight.
  • Liquid is very versatile and mixes nicely with a foundation to offer a "light from within glow" and as a highlight offers a more subtle highlight.

I love all three of the highlighters! Have you tried any/all of these Shimmering Skin Perfectors yet? What did you think?
