Shade Description – Rich warm brown
My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Shadow Singles Fudge:
Shade: The shade Fudge is a warm, deep brown with a matte finish. From a plethora of browns available in the beauty world, fudge is a shade which holds on its own, thanks to the richness of the shade. It really is dark chocolatey fudge on the skin. This is the kind of shade we all need in our stash – a good deep brown. It is a great alternative to black and it works well on our warm skin tones. Whether you want to create a smokey eye or just contour your eyes and accentuate the outer V, it works very well. In the FOTD, I have used it on the outer 1/4th – just the outermost V of the eye – to create depth and elongate the eyes.
Texture: The texture is quite soft, smooth, finely milled and buttery smooth. It is definitely one of the finest matte eyeshadows I have encountered. Unlike Dusty Rose (which is another matte shade from ABH) – this one isn’t powdery. It doesn’t kick out when the brush touches the pan. So, there is barely any fallout, which is excellent for a shade this dark. Makes it easy to work with it. The shade is easily blendable and applies easily onto the skin.
Pigmentation: The shade has excellent pigmentation. This is the kind of shade newbies need to be careful of when working with it because a little really goes a long way. And, despite the intense pigmentation, it is easy to diffuse and blend out. It does not get patchy while applying or blending.
Staying Power: I apply my eyeshadows over a primer because my lids are way too oily. The shade gave about 9 hours of wear time before showing signs of fading. This shade does not crease on me.
I remember when I first started liking eyeshadows, I wanted to make a neutral matte quad with MAC eyeshadows – shades like Cork, Espresso, etc. Something comparable to Tom Ford Quad – Coco Mirage, maybe. And I wouldn’t find these MAC eyeshadows in store. I couldn’t understand it. These were popular shades abroad and yet our MAC stores wouldn’t have them in stock. It took me a while to understand that people don’t really go to MAC to buy neutral basic browns. People want brighter, blingier or more colorful shades. And, understandably so. However, everyone needs a set of basic brown shades – something for the crease, something for transition, something to accentuate the outer V. Yes, most largish neutral palettes would have these shades and so people may not find the need to buy them individually. But, I do feel that one needs a couple of these basic shades in their stash, to fall back on, irrespective of what palette you use. And, this one is a perfect must-have basic shade in your stash.
